Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Construction Estimating & Cost Analysis:
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and site conditions
- Prepare cost estimates and scope-based pricing for building repair and rehabilitation projects, including concrete restoration and underground garage repairs
- Analyze labour, materials, and equipment requirements to support accurate cost analysis
- Support tendering processes, including bid comparison and cost evaluation
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to obtain quotations and maintain vendor relationships
- Evaluate change orders, review progress payment applications, and assist in preparing budget forecasts
Technical Support & Site Inspections:
- Assist with site inspections of building envelope systems, concrete structures, and underground parking garages
- Document field data, photographic records, and observed deficiencies
- Support field testing and investigations and assist in preparing technical reports and specifications
- Interpret construction drawings and ensure proposed scopes comply with applicable building codes and standards
Project Coordination:
- Coordinate project activities between clients, contractors, and internal teams
- Track project progress and assist with scheduling and project deliverables
- Participate in progress meetings and maintain accurate project documentation
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in construction estimating, quantity take-offs, and cost analysis
- Experience in building envelope, concrete restoration, or underground garage rehabilitation projects is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with Bluebeam or similar take-off software
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
Work Conditions:
- Combination of office and field work
- Travel within the Greater Toronto Area
- Ability to access active construction sites and underground parking structures
