Job Description

Tasks
• Ensure full responsibility for the day-to-day management and operation of the pharmacy in accordance with provincial legislation and regulatory standards.
• Supervise the secure storage, handling, dispensing, and record-keeping of drugs, methadone, and other controlled substances in compliance with federal and BC regulatory requirements.
• Establish and maintain operational protocols aligned with legislative requirements, government contracts, and harm-reduction or addiction-treatment programs.
• Hire, train, schedule, and oversee staff, and assistants to ensure compliance with professional practice standards and safe dispensing practices.
• Ensure all pharmacy records, patient information, and dispensing logs are handled securely.
• Oversee budgeting, monitor revenues and expenditures, control inventory costs, and implement cost-effective strategies to ensure profitability and financial sustainability of the pharmacy.
• Develop and implement promotional initiatives, maintain relationships with healthcare providers and community partners, and support outreach efforts to strengthen the pharmacy’s presence and service utilization.
• Manage ordering, negotiate with vendors, ensure optimal stock levels, and minimize waste or expired inventory while maintaining availability of essential medications.
• Identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements to enhance workflow, service quality, and overall operational efficiency.
