MAIN DUTIES
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine framing requirements.
• Prepare layouts and mark wall positions according to drawings and building codes.
• Measure, cut and assemble lightweight steel studs, tracks and related framing materials.
• Install steel stud walls, partitions and framing around door and window openings.
• Install backing, blocking and supports where required.
• Check framing for proper spacing, alignment and level, and make necessary adjustments.
• Repair or replace damaged steel stud framing and related carpentry components during renovation work.
• Estimate the quantity of steel studs, tracks and other framing materials required from project drawings.
• Coordinate framing work with other workers on site and follow workplace safety procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Secondary school graduation certificate.
• Two years to less than three years of relevant work experience.
• Experience using hand tools and framing equipment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Personal protective equipment training.
• Occupational Health and Safety Certificate.
• Criminal record check.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work and work as part of a team.
