Responsibilities
Tasks
• Operate tractor-trailer units to transport goods on long-haul routes throughout Canada and the United States.
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck, trailer, tires, brakes, lights, and other equipment.
• Plan and follow assigned routes, schedules, delivery instructions, and border-crossing requirements.
• Complete and maintain driver logs, trip reports, bills of lading, inspection reports, fuel records, and other transportation documents.
• Ensure cargo is properly loaded, secured, and protected in accordance with applicable safety regulations.
• Transport freight safely and deliver shipments to customers and terminals within scheduled timelines.
• Comply with Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations, including hours-of-service, weight restrictions, and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
• Complete required customs and cross-border documentation and cooperate with border and customs authorities.
• Monitor vehicle condition during trips and report mechanical defects, accidents, delays, or other operational issues to dispatch.
• Communicate regularly with dispatchers regarding pickup and delivery status, route changes, delays, and customer instructions.
• Perform emergency roadside checks and minor adjustments when safe and appropriate.
• Maintain the cleanliness, security, and safe operating condition of the assigned truck and equipment.
