Job Description
Position: Painter Helper
Number of vacancies: 1
Terms of employment: Permanent, full-time
Hours of work: 40 hours per week
Wage: $25.00 per hour
Start date: ASAP
Vacation time: As per law
Work Location: Various job locations in Vancouver and surrounding areas, BC
Language of work: English
Key duties and Responsibilities
• Assist painters with the preparation and completion of residential and commercial painting projects.
• Load, unload, carry, and move painting materials, tools, ladders, and equipment to work areas.
• Prepare work areas by moving or covering furniture, floors, fixtures, windows, and other surfaces with protective materials.
• Assist with preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, and removing old or loose paint and other materials.
• Fill cracks, holes, and minor surface imperfections as directed by painters.
• Mix and prepare paints, primers, and other painting materials under the direction of experienced painters.
• Supply painters with paint, tools, equipment, and other required materials during painting projects.
• Set up and dismantle ladders, scaffolding, and other work platforms as required.
• Assist painters with applying paint and other materials as directed.
• Clean brushes, rollers, paint trays, tools, ladders, and other equipment after use.
• Remove debris, used protective materials, empty containers, and other waste from work areas.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas before, during, and after painting projects.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
• Perform other general labour and painting support duties as directed by painters or supervisors.
Requirements for the job
• Previous experience in construction, painting, cleaning, or general labour is an asset but not mandatory.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
• Attention to detail.
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically demanding work, including standing, bending, crouching, kneeling, and lifting materials and equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg.
• Ability to work with ladders and at heights when required.
• Steel-toed safety boots and other personal protective equipment may be required.
