Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as a painter-decorator required
Tasks/ Job duties: Prepare, clean and sand interior and exterior surfaces of commercial buildings and renovation sites by scraping surfaces, removing old wallpaper and loose paint, repairing cracks and holes and applying sealers as required, Review project specifications and determine the type and quantity of paint, coating, wall coverings and other materials required for painting and decorating work, Mix and thin paint to obtain the desired colour and texture according to project specifications, Apply paint, stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish and other protective or decorative coating using brushes, rollers or spray equipment, Perform painting and decorative finishing work during commercial renovation projects, including specialized decorative finishes required by project specifications, Measure, cut and apply wallpaper and other fabric to walls and other interior surfaces as required, Advise customers or project representatives on colours, finishes and the selection of wall coverings when required, Erect scaffolding, swing stages and other equipment, and attach rigging as required to safely perform painting and decorating work, Clean and maintain painting tools, equipment and work areas and follow applicable workplace health and safety procedures, Estimate costs and materials required for painting and decorating projects
