Work Site Environment:
- Beef Cattle Ranching and farming, including feedlots
- Outdoors, confined spaces, dusty, hot, noisy, odours, wet/damp, livestock, all weather conditions, dirty.

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
Expected to check individual pens for sick or distressed animals. Once animals are identified the employee is expected to treat that animal in order to prevent death or continued sickness. Expected to identify new incoming cattle and associate them with a lot name, given by the employer, and process each animal following proper protocol and procedures.


SPECIFIC DUTIES:

General administration of herd health.
Check pens daily, check cattle for illnesses and injuries, pull and treat with medication where necessary, recording with computer software.
Processing/treating cattle with vaccines and other medications.
Ensure water systems are operational and repaired when needed.
Maintain accurate cattle records, quality control/production records, using computer software.
Receive new cattle using proper processing protocol (tag, vaccine, implant, etc.) and assess animal health.
Move cattle when required, sort to ship and load for shipping.
Assess and supply bedding to cattle when required.
General maintenance of yard equipment and machinery used in cattle care, assist with maintenance of pens including scraping/hauling manure as required.
General maintenance of fences, corrals, gates and holding systems.
