Position: Floor covering Installer
Position Summary:
Responsible for performing skilled floor covering installation work at various customer and job sites throughout the Calgary area, including residential and commercial construction, renovation, and redevelopment work, in accordance with project requirements and quality and safety standards.
Wage: $25.69 per hour, 30 to 40 hours
Job Duties:
1. Review drawings, work orders, specifications, and customer requirements to determine installation requirements, and inspect, measure, and mark surfaces before starting the work.
2. Accurately measure rooms, hallways, stairs, and other areas, and determine the quantities of flooring, underlay, underpadding, and other materials required.
3. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants, and prepare subfloors by cleaning, scraping, sanding, leveling, or repairing uneven or damaged areas as required.
4. Measure, cut, and install underlay, underpadding, moisture barriers, and other required preparation materials according to the flooring type and site conditions.
5. Measure, mark, cut, fit, and install hardwood and other floor-covering materials around rooms, stairs, corners, fixtures, and other areas.
6. Secure flooring using appropriate adhesives, nails, staples, seam tape, or mechanical fasteners, and complete seams, transitions, edges, and other finishing details as required.
7. Inspect completed installations for gaps, loose edges, uneven seams, damage, or other defects, and perform necessary adjustments, repairs, or replacements.
8. Safely operate hand and power tools, follow workplace health and safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and properly dispose of installation waste.

** Work locations may vary depending on project assignments. The employee will be required to travel regularly to customer and project sites throughout the Calgary area.
Requirements:
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• 2–3 years of relevant experience as a Floor Covering Installer, with demonstrated ability to work independently, interpret job requirements, and complete flooring installation projects to established quality and safety standards.
