Job Description
Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced caregiver to support a young female adult who is non-verbal and uses a wheelchair. She is fully dependent on caregivers for all activities of daily living. She enjoys music, going for walks, social outings, being read to, and watching movies. The ideal candidate will be attentive, patient, and comfortable providing full personal care while also creating a positive and engaging environment.

Main Duties:

Provide full personal care including bathing, dressing, toileting, and hygiene support
Perform safe transfers using mechanical lifts and mobility equipment
Administer medications, enteral feeding (G-tube), and hydration as per care plan
Support communication using assistive devices (e.g., eye gaze system, yes/no communication tools)
Assist with range-of-motion exercises, positioning, and light massage to support mobility and reduce muscle stiffness
Plan, organize, and participate in recreational and social activities
Monitor and document health status; report any changes or concerns to family/employer
Maintain a clean and safe environment for the client
Skills and Experience Requirements:

Education:

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate required
Health Care Aide certification or equivalent is an asset
Experience (Required): Minimum 1 year of recent (within the last 3 years) hands-on caregiving experience

Experience must include direct, ongoing responsibility for:

Personal care (bathing, toileting, dressing)
Transfers and mobility support
Experience must involve clients who are fully or highly dependent
Experience (Strong Assets):
Experience using mechanical lifts
Experience with G-tube feeding
Experience supporting individuals with complex physical disabilities
Experience supporting non-verbal communication methods
Additional Requirements:

Experience must be hands-on and substantive; observational placements or short-term training alone will not be considered
Physically capable of performing caregiving duties, including transfers
Ability to work independently and follow detailed care plans
Strong observation and communication skills
Reliable, patient, and compassionate
