Oyes Kebab is an authentic, original Turkish Kebab & meze house offering its patrons the best Kebab and Turkish mezes in Vancouver, BC. Located in central Vancouver – Kingsway, our menu features traditional Turkish recipes with local and imported ingredients. Our menu is not a hybrid, middle eastern fusion but solely Turkish food. Specialty Foods Chef position will report to the owners of the restaurant in a full-time (40hrs/week), permanent basis with wage of $37.50/hr based out of our Burnaby, BC location.
Duties and responsibilities of Specialty Foods Chef:
• Supervise and oversee the work of OYes’s Turkish food cooks and kitchen helpers.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage all kebab, meat and meze preparations of OYes.
• Prepare and cook complete meals, including mezes (appetizers), kebabs, pide, lahmacun dishes with original recipes.
• Train and instruct Turkish/Ethnic Cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of all menu items.
• Develop and introduce new recipes to OYes’s patrons while reflecting Turkish culinary traditions.
• Estimate ingredient requirements and prepare reports related to food costs, labour costs, and staff scheduling needs.
• Ensure that all menu items and kitchen operations meet established quality, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
• Monitor and, where required, manage the requisition and procurement of specialty food ingredients, Turkish food products, and kitchen supplies.

Qualifications
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar setting (Chef) is required
• Journeyman Certificate or equivalent is required.
• Strong attention to detail, experience on specialty foods (Turkish) is required.
• Foodsafe certificate is required
• Turkish as a second language is an asset.
• Dedicated, hardworking, honest and responsible.
