Job Description
Job Responsibilities:

• Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble and install wood products
• Measure, mark dimensions and lay out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculators and squares
• Fasten joints and seams in sheet metal with bolts and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully
• Install wall assemblies, and flashings.
• Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and a seamless appearance
• Select the appropriate type of products to be used in projects according to specifications
• Ensure safety is a priority on the job during all activities, including using tools and installing and fabricating metal
Work conditions:

The standard work week is 40 hours (8 hours a day, 5 days a week). There are peak periods that will require you to work overtime.

As a Carpenter, you may work indoors or outdoors on construction sites or in a shop. You may work independently but may also collaborate with other construction professionals. The job can be physically demanding – you may work at considerable heights and have to lift heavy materials and equipment.
As with all careers in the construction industry, safety is the top priority. Carpenters are trained to work safely and wear special equipment to protect against injury.
