Chrysalis Society is a trauma responsive organization supporting women through early recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. We operate a full continuum of care, including 1st stage and 2nd stage homes and housing subsidies, with no time limits on programs so women can heal at their own pace.

The Indigenous Peer Support Worker is a core member of the New Day team, providing culturally grounded, trauma responsive, and relational support to Indigenous women on their healing and recovery journeys.

Job Description
The Indigenous Peer Support Worker draws on lived experience, cultural knowledge, and peer based practice to support Indigenous women to connect with their cultural identity and recover from addiction. This role provides emotional, cultural, practical, and community oriented support in a manner that is non judgmental, inclusive, and rooted in traditional Indigenous teachings.

This position supports day to day household routines, contributes to a safe and stable home environment, assists with culturally grounded programming, and helps residents navigate challenges through active listening, relational practice, and non violent communication.

Qualifications

• Lived/living experience with recovery and wellness, including a minimum of 2-3 years of recovery if applicable

• Knowledge of Indigenous healing practices, ceremonies, teachings, and cultural protocols

• ALR Training Certificate - Implementing BC’s Supportive Recovery Standards

• Foundational Skills for the Substance Use, Treatment, and Recovery Workforce Certificate

• Basic counselling, peer support, or frontline support experience

• Familiarity with non violent communication, trauma responsive care, intersectionality, and anti oppression frameworks

• Ability to maintain accurate documentation using Windows re: Outlook, Word, and Teams

• Emergency First Aid & Naloxone Training - Community Care

• Food Safe

• Class 5 Driver’s License

• Criminal Records Check
