Currently we are looking for an Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the work location of 2758 Peatt Rd, Victoria, BC V9B 3V3. This position will be full-time; the hourly rate will be $28.75 with 30-40 work hours per week. The overtime pay will be 1.5x regular wage after 8 hours of work per day and/or 40 hours per week.
Job Description
Job Descriptions:
• Develop, implement and evaluate child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
• Design and lead age-appropriate activities including storytelling, music, creative arts, dramatic play and physical activities
• Observe and assess children’s development and behavior; document observations and discuss progress or concerns with parents and supervisors
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with parents, guardians and community service providers
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
• Maintain a healthy, safe and inclusive environment in compliance with provincial licensing regulations
• Prepare materials, snacks and organize rooms for lunch and rest periods
• Supervise and coordinate activities of early childhood educator assistants, where applicable
• Attend staff meetings and professional development activities as required
Requirements:
• Language: English
• Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate issued by the Province of British Columbia
• Education: Completion of a two- to four-year college program in early childhood education or a bachelor's degree in child development is required.
• Experience: minimum 1 year of experience in a licensed childcare setting
• Criminal record check clearance
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Knowledge of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
