Through the use of appropriate guidance, Petits Genies offers a safe, enriching and educational environment for children. Our play-based program incorporates some elements of Reggio Emilia and Montessori. We offer some of our curriculum in French and we emphasize the education of the whole child, which is based on the principle of respect, responsibility and community.

We are currently looking for a permanent full time Early Childhood Educator.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan and develop programs and activities suitable for children.
• Design and implement learning programs that support children’s physical, intellectual, social, cultural, creative, and emotional development.
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
• Develop listening and comprehension skills through approved activities such as storytelling, role-playing, games, music, and art.
• Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and washroom habits.
• Clean and disinfect classrooms and daycare equipment.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and community service providers working with children.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children’s development, learning progress, and needs.
• Understand and follow all Petits Génies Child Care policies and management directions.
• Ensure the program operates in compliance with all BC Child Care Licensing Standards.

Compensation and Benefits:
$24.00/hour plus ECE Wage Enhancement from the government, 4% vacation pay, Health and Dental benefits (Blue Cross)

Job Description

Education, skills and experience required:
• Completion of a college program in early childhood education is required
• Licensing by a provincial association for early childhood educators (ECE) is required
• Some experience in childcare or related field is strong asset
• Willing to submit a Criminal Records Check

Language: Oral and written English skills required
