Herland Media Ltd. (dba Herland Weekly) is a Chinese weekly print and digital magazine founded in 2017 in Metro Vancouver. The magazine focuses on immigrant families and women, and covers Canadian social and economic life, including topics such as education, financial management, consumption, and lifestyle. Herland Weekly is distributed across Metro Vancouver and operates its WeChat platform under the name “Herland Weekly”, providing practical and up-to-date information to the local Chinese community.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Communications Director to lead the overall communications, branding, and marketing initiatives for Herland Weekly. This senior leadership role is responsible for planning and executing integrated communication and promotional strategies to enhance our media presence, grow audience engagement, and strengthen partnerships within the local Chinese community.

Job Description
Main Duties
• Develop and execute strategic communication and marketing plans across digital, print, social, and event platforms.
• Design and manage integrated advertising campaigns to promote company initiatives and client brands.
• Conduct market research to assess audience insights and campaign performance; adapt strategy accordingly.
• Lead public relations activities including press releases, stakeholder communications, and media relations.
• Manage Herland’s digital presence and online business platforms.
• Build and maintain partnerships with corporate clients, media outlets, and community organizations.
• Supervise and guide the marketing and communications team;
• Manage project workflows and timelines.
• Monitor trends and competitors to identify innovative strategies for market expansion.
Employment Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively senior experience in communications, marketing, or public relations management.
• Proven leadership in executing multi-channel marketing campaigns in industries such as media, entertainment, or consumer goods.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to lead teams and manage budgets.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Cross-cultural communication experience or Chinese language skills are considered an asset but not mandatory.
