Barrhill Feeders Inc. is searching for a permanent full-time Farm Supervisor to join our progressive and growing team. Barrhill Feeders Inc. is currently feeding 75 000 head between two feedlot operations located 10 miles North of Picture Butte, AB or 10 miles East of Barons, AB. As a Farm Supervisor you are an integral part of the operation ensuring appropriate care of cattle and equipment operation wide.
Wage: $22.00-$31.00/hr depending on experience.
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, assign and supervise the work involving equipment used by specialized livestock workers, equipment operators, livestock labourers, and pen riders.
- Supervise and oversee cattle on feed and other livestock-related programs.
- Supervise, monitor and enforce procedures to maintain livestock health and welfare according to the feedlot veterinarian's protocol.
- Supervise and oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance on the feedlots.
- Supervise, monitor, and enforce safety procedures to properly maintain equipment and vehicles.
- Supervise maintenance of feedlot infrastructure, equipment, and shop supplies.
- Develop equipment and vehicle maintenance schedules and establish safe shop work procedures.
- Ensure feedlot safety, food safety and security and bio-security procedures are followed.
- Maintain equipment maintenance and safety inspection records.
- May operate and repair digital technology and communication tools and equipment, such as FeedIT and MicroBeef Systems used for feeding.
- May perform general feedlot duties.
Experience/Skills Required:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Possess knowledge of, and ability to recognize common diseases within cattle in feedlot setting.
- 2 years experience working with livestock.
- Good attitude and team player with ability to positively influence employees.
- Professional and able to positively represent and influence Barrhill Feeders Inc.
- Self-motivated and able to lead by example.
- Attention to detail.
- Good organization skills.
- Good communication (orally and written) and leadership skills.
- Experience in processing cattle and the feedlot industry.
- Cattle handling skills.
- Experience with operating equipment (loader, tractor, feed truck, etc.).
- Computer skills.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Working directly with cattle on foot.
- Work with cattle on horse back (preferred, but not necessary).
- Repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Combination of standing and walking.
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Use of computerized record keeping, processing, and feeding system.
Transportation:
- Own transportation, valid driver’s license.
