Position: Excavator Operator
Location: Halifax, NS
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: CAD26-CAD30 per hour
Working Hours: 30-35 hours per week.

Position Overview?
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience operating heavy machinery, mentoring junior operators, and contributing to project efficiency and safety. This role requires advanced technical skills, leadership abilities, and a strong commitment to precision and safety.

Key Responsibilities
• Operate excavators to perform excavation, trenching, grading, and material handling tasks accurately and safely.
• Conduct fine grading, backfilling, and slope finishing in accordance with project specifications.
• Perform pre-operational checks, monitor equipment performance, and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Carry out routine maintenance such as lubrication, filter replacement, and cleaning to ensure optimal machine condition.
• Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, and blueprints to execute excavation according to design.
• Work safely around utilities, foundations, and other sensitive structures.
• Follow site safety protocols and environmental regulations at all times.
• Collaborate with site supervisors and ground crews to coordinate excavation activities and meet project deadlines.

Job Description

Employment Requirements
• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications are highly preferred.
• 2+ years of progressive experience operating heavy equipment, with demonstrated expertise in advanced operations.
• Proven ability to mentor junior operators and lead onsite equipment coordination.
• Strong diagnostic and maintenance skills, with experience in troubleshooting hydraulic and engine systems.
