EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – INDIGENOUS GOVERNANCE ORGANIZATION
Lillooet, BC | Salary: $130,000–$150,000/year

This Indigenous governance organization delivers programs and services across Finance, Health, Social Development, Housing, Education, Public Works, and Economic Development. Position Summary
Reporting to Chief & Council, the Executive Director oversees all programs, services, and administrative functions, ensuring alignment with the Nation’s vision and policies. You will be responsible for financial oversight, human resources, strategic planning, and community engagement. This role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to foster a positive workplace culture while maintaining accountability and protocol.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day administration of all departments and services
Translate strategic direction from Chief & Council into operational goals and workplans
Evaluate the current management team and provide leadership, mentorship, and direction
Develop and implement financial, human resource, capital, and departmental plans
Prepare annual operating and capital budgets and departmental workplans
Establish and maintain strong internal financial controls and fiscal accountability
Oversee HR administration including hiring, performance reviews, training plans, and benefit programs
Administer the ISC Ten-Year Program Plan in collaboration with leadership
Enforce internal policies, procedures, and governance protocols consistently and fairly
Navigate community politics and interpersonal relationships with diplomacy and professionalism
Facilitate communication and information flow between leadership, employees, and community members
Prepare meeting agendas, resources, and regular reporting updates
Lead the preparation of funding proposals and contract negotiations
Foster a collaborative team environment and support leadership development
Represent the organization at public meetings, special events, and community forums
Monitor and review external documents, hearings, and initiatives that may impact the Nation
Utilize Sage 300 and Xyntax for financial and HR-related administration
Oversee purchasing, tendering, and other financial transactions
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economic Development, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 5 years of progressive senior management experience, preferably within Indigenous communities or organizations
Strong HR leadership background with experience in recruitment, performance management, and staff development
Proficiency with Sage 300, Xyntax, or other financial/HR systems
Class 5 BC Driver’s License
Working knowledge of FAL (Financial Administration Law) and FNHA (First Nations Health Authority) structures and policies
