Katzie Development Corporation (KDC), a Katzie First Nation owned and operated economic development firm is seeking a General Manager to lead the operations of KDC and its subsidiary companies.
The General Manager (GM) holds the most senior executive position with Kazie Development Corporation (KDC) and for all of KDC’s subsidiary businesses and reports directly to the KDC Board of Directors and Officers. The GM is an entrepreneurial leader who is responsible for driving economic advancement for Katzie First Nation through business development, employment, and community-based projects. This involves the creation and management of businesses with unique revenue streams that generate wealth for Katzie First Nation.
The General Manager is responsible for leading the organization through a critical period of growth while creating new business opportunities.

Job Description
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The General Manager’s key responsibilities include:
• Advising and supporting the Board and Officers in the development and implementation of KDC’s strategic plan.
• Ensuring that deliverables are met in accordance with contractual obligations.
• Building effective teams to meet operational goals and objectives.
• Representing KDC in high level negotiations.
• Building effective project management processes and strategies.
• Establishing and maintaining Occupational Health and Safety policies and practices.
• Establishing and maintaining effective budgetary, capital, and operating cost control systems.
• Supporting effective communication within the organization and ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and understood.
• Securing capital to support business strategies, opportunities, and initiatives.
• Focusing on the corporation’s financial growth, development and sustainability.
• Providing accurate and up-to-date financial reports to the Board and Officers.
• Creating effective financial and operational internal controls.
• Establishing and maintaining a strong, collaborative working environment.
• Training and supporting managers to enhance their leadership skills and ability to navigate challenging workplace situations.
• Progressively creating a positive and respectful working environment.
• Taking initiative to learn Katzie First Nation Laws, customs, and values and ensuring that these Laws, customs and values are represented in daily practice.
• Ensuring appropriate consultation occurs with Nations.
• Partnering with and managing subcontractors and consultants.
• Actively seeking out partnership opportunities such as revenue sharing and joint ventures in alignment with KDC’s Strategic Plan.
• Providing oversight and actively leading the development of business plans for current and future projects and subsidiary businesses.
• Representing KDC at key Katzie First Nation community events, stakeholder functions, and other events.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• A master’s degree in business administration or an equivalent combination of work experience and education. Certificates in Indigenous Economic Development would be an asset.
• A minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably with First Nations and/or Economic Development entities.
• Extensive experience with business management with expertise in the areas of human resources, finance and strategic planning.
• Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
• Previous experience leading a senior management team.
• In-depth knowledge of corporate finance principles, laws, and best practices.
• Analytical ability and business acumen.
• Expert-level knowledge of business development.

POSITION CLASSIFICATION:

This is a permanent position pending the successful completion of conditions of employment as per the employment contract, for example,

• Successful completion of the required probationary period.
• Receipt of a successful criminal background check.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position requires that the GM work during regular business hours (Monday to Friday) with occasional weekend and evening work.

This position requires that the GM be present in the office for the majority of time. Virtual work options may be available pending the approval of the Board and Officers.
