Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled Cook & Kitchen Area Caretaker to support our team for two important projects:
1. Construction Catering (June to September 2025) – Providing meal preparation and kitchen support for our ongoing construction project.

2.Café Launch (September 2025 to November 2025) – Assisting with the full planning, preparation, and launch of our new community café, with the potential for this role to extend up to 1 year. We’ll review the position at the end of November to determine whether it will be renewed for a longer term.

This is a hands-on, dual-role position ideal for someone passionate about food, organization, and supporting local initiatives.

Job Description
As Cook & Kitchen Area Caretaker, you will support the kitchen operations and ensure the
cleanliness and upkeep of the kitchen and dining areas. This role requires a detail-oriented and
proactive individual who is capable of balancing cooking responsibilities with maintaining a clean and
organized environment for meal preparation and dining.

Part 1: Construction Catering (June to September 2025)
As part of the construction catering role, you will focus on supporting the kitchen operations for the construction team by preparing meals and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen and dining area.

Key Responsibilities:
*Meal Preparation & Kitchen Operations
-Assist in preparing meals based on established recipes and quality standards
-Ensure food is ready for service in a timely manner
-Maintain a clean, sanitized kitchen environment that meets food safety standards
-Help organize and store food supplies, and track inventory levels
-Support the team with receiving food and supply deliveries

*Dining Area Caretaking
-Set up, clean, and reset the dining area before and after meals
-Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment
-Manage waste and recycling, ensuring all kitchen and dining areas are tidy

*General Support
-Work with other team members to ensure smooth operations
-Flexibility to shift between cooking, cleaning, and other support tasks as needed

*Required Qualifications:
-Experience in cooking for groups or working in a commercial kitchen
-Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
-Ability to work independently and maintain high cleanliness standards
-Comfortable working in a remote community setting

Part 2: Café Launch (September 2025 to November 2025)
The café launch role involves supporting all aspects of planning, preparation, and execution for the opening of the new community-focused café. This includes menu development, kitchen setup, and ensuring the café offers a welcoming and organized environment for both staff and guests.

Key Responsibilities:
*Planning & Café Setup
-Assist in the planning and development of the café menu
-Help organize and set up kitchen equipment, supplies, and inventory for the café
-Support the team in training and organizing the operational flow of the café

*Café Operations & Meal Preparation
-Ensure timely and consistent food quality and service for customers
-Manage daily operations of the kitchen, including food prep and presentation
-Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining area, following food safety protocols

*General Support & Launch Activities
-Work closely with the café team to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction
-Help with the marketing, promotional activities, and community engagement efforts
during the café launch
-Be adaptable and flexible in managing multiple tasks during busy periods

Required Qualifications:
-Previous experience working in a café, restaurant, or commercial kitchen
-Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
-Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
-Ability to work in a customer-facing environment and provide excellent service
-Comfort with planning and organizing café operations from the ground up
-Experience in menu development, food preparation, or café setup is a plus
