As a Senior Talent Attraction Specialist, you play a pivotal role in attracting diverse talent, shaping and implementing strategies that foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, where people feel they belong. This role provides expert advice and actively participates in the development and implementation of the DEIB Talent Attraction plan and the FW Talent Attraction strategy, collaborating with internal and external partners and ensuring alignment with our purpose, values and organizational goals.

Job Description
Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day:
- Strategy Support and Best Practice Analysis: Offers expert advice, experience and support in the development and execution of the Talent Attraction plan (with a focus on DEIB). Conducts regular reviews to ensure the recruitment processes and programs are aligned with the organization’s commitment to fair, inclusive, equitable, accessible and effective talent attraction. Monitors and analyzes recruitment metrics to assess the effectiveness of initiatives and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.
- Diversity Advancement: Propels the talent attraction plan forward, in collaboration with the business by promoting the retention and advancement of a diverse and high-caliber workforce, utilizing an intersectional lens to enhance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, hiring and retention of quality talent.
- Collaborative Implementation: Works closely with the Manager, Talent Attraction, Program Manager (DEIB), HR Business Partners, and leaders to facilitate the rollout of these strategies and encourage the adoption of inclusive, equitable and accessible practices and behaviors.
- Relationship Building and Program Management: Builds and nurtures relationships with hiring managers, job seekers from equity-deserving groups, and relevant communities and organizations, integrating perspectives and practices that ensure culturally respectful interactions with all candidates. Fosters relationships with academic institutions, professional organizations, and community groups. Implements, sustains, and improves recruitment programs, such as our Student Hiring Program and the Launi Skinner Indigenous Scholarship and Bursary Program.
- Recruitment: Assists the Talent Attraction team with sourcing and recruitment for equity-deserving groups and recruitment of talent for specialized positions. Participates in careers fairs, interview & resume writing clinics, and other programs supporting equity-deserving groups in the community.
- Emerging Practices, Legislation and Workplace Readiness: Collaborates with Learning and Development to deliver inclusive and accessible learning opportunities that are aligned with Talent Attraction, selection, and promotion to ensure that barriers are removed for all. Provides guidance, tools and resources to hiring teams on inclusive and equitable hiring practices and unconscious bias mitigation, to effectively hire and integrate talent into the organization. Regularly monitors and ensures alignment with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging trends, emerging hiring practices, and relevant legislation.
- Orientation and Onboarding: Supports an equitable and accessible onboarding process to enhance the success of new employees during their first two years of employment. This includes facilitating orientation sessions, following up with new hires and leaders, and ensuring that onboarding needs are met. Additionally, creates an environment where team members feel welcome, valued, and included from day one, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion and belonging (DEIB) as integral parts of your workplace culture.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- 3 years of recent experience working directly with equity deserving groups and communities and as a Senior Talent Attraction Specialist is required; 2-3 years’ experience in HR is preferred
- Bachelors degree in HR or Business or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience required
- Experience in talent attraction with a focus on DEIB is required
- Strong understanding of DEIB principles and best practices
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable workplace.
- Lived experience as an equity-deserving group member is preferred, with a deep understanding of a variety of cultures, traditions, and the unique challenges faced by equity deserving job seekers.
- Experience working in financial institution and/or credit union industry preferred
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Demonstrated coaching, influencing and negotiating skills
- Willingness to think outside the box and advise on creative new ideas for sourcing key talent
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills
- Comprehensive understanding of the full cycle recruitment process
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Applicant Tracking Systems
- Knowledge of Employment Standards (BC, ON, AB), Human Rights legislation and the Accessible Canada Act
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous peoples in social contexts, and knowledge and appreciation of the unique history, cultures, and rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
- Knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments as it relates to hiring practices
- Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures
