Certification: required as per Alberta employment regulations

Work setting: at the place of business (salon)
Responsibilities
Cut, trim and style hair according to clients’ instructions or current hairstyles.
Shape, wax and trim beards and moustaches, using scissors/razor.
Perform facial and shoulder massage as requested by clients.
Apply solutions to hair for therapeutic or cosmetic purposes.
Discuss service options, treatments for hair problems/needs of clients.
Clean workstations
Clean and sterilize scissors, combs, clippers, and other instruments.
Record services provided on cashier tickets or receive payments from customers.
Keep card files on clientele, recording notes of work done, products used, and fees charged after each visit.
Order materials, supplies, or equipment.
Stay informed of the latest styles and hair care techniques.
Maintain professional knowledge or certifications for the province of Alberta.
Promote in store hair products, services, or programs.
Attend all Hair Salon staff meetings as scheduled.
Keep on top of latest hairstyle trends through research.
