Big Catch in Calgary, AB is currently looking for two permanent full-time Cooks to join our team.

Education, skills and experience required:
• Completion of secondary school
• Several years of work experience in commercial food preparation especially Japanese foods
• Knowledge of Japanese food and/or Sushi are assets

Language:
• English communication skill is required.

Compensation: $17.00 - $20.00/hour (depends on experience/qualifications) + tips, Health/Life insurance, 4% vacation pay, Staff meal, Store discount

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook meals and dishes on the menu including sushi
• Prepare all types of Japanese cuisine
• Cutting fish by the proper methods
• Properly make sushi rice
• Handle fish and ingredients for sushi preparation
• Order food and supplies when needed
• Select fresh and superior ingredients
• Continually check the quality of raw and cooked products
• Instruct cooks and kitchen helpers on preparation, cooking and garnishing of food
• Maintain and sharpen knives
• Design new types of sushi rolls
• Keep up with the latest trends
• Train and motivate kitchen staff
