At Ronin Izakaya, we offer authentic Japanese meals. We are currently looking for a full-time and permanent Sous-chef to join our team.
Education, skills and experience required:
- Completion of a secondary school
- At least three years of experience in commercial food preparation is required
- Knowledge or experience in preparation of Japanese cuisine is strong asset but not a requirement
- Ability to maintain high quality control standards under high pressure and fast paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work well in a team
Language: Communication skills in English
Compensation: $21.00 / hour plus tips/gratuities, 4% vacation pay, Staff meals, Staff discount

Job Description
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise activities of chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
- Fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
- Plan menus and create new recipes / Help in planning menus and come up with new dishes which appeal to the clients
- Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff’s performance
- Prepare and cook meals when necessary
- Maintain order and discipline in the kitchen during working hours
- May requisition food and kitchen supplies
