Job Duties:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls, forms, scaffold and roof systems
• Construction, erection and install of wood and engineered formwork systems for columns, walls, suspended slabs, slab on grade and concrete stairs
• Stripping and removal of concrete formwork after concrete pours
• Erect and build scaffolding for access and concrete formwork decks
• Install anchor bolts and embedded steel for concrete
• Build hoardings and temporary shelters
• Complete task hazard assessments and maintain a safe work environment
• May work with or near chemicals, cranes and moving equipment
• Ability to work outdoors under various conditions
• General labour duties and cleanup as required
• Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
• Rigging equipment with tower cranes

Skills requirements:

• Have previous four years of work experience in forming
• Be in good health and physically fit
• Able to work at heights and balance on platforms, scaffolds and decks
• Able to work alone, or as part of a team
• Display good verbal and written communication skills when working with other employees
• Hardworking and able to readily accept and apply direction from supervisor
