job duties:
You will be responsible for managing and ensuring the supervision of assistants and workers. You should be organised and result-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality and teamwork to meet or exceed our expectations of our company and our customers. Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the farm, our retail business and seasonal business planning.
Your duties will include:
Co-ordinate, assign and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers
Supervise and oversee breeding activities of goats, alpacas and livestock dogs
Supervise, monitor and enforce procedures to maintain animal health
Create birthing pens and ensure readiness, put birthing plan in place and implement the plan.
Post birth plan for doe, kids and re-integrating them to herd
Implement milking plan, teach farm labourers how to milk, Maintain quality control and production records of our plan, Ensure farm safety, food safety and security and bio-security procedures are followed
Oversee health plan for animals including vaccinations, nutrition, de-worming and adjusting as required
Goat hoof care - plan and implement care of hooves, required every 6-8 weeks.
Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations, create Haute Goat’s garden plan and implement for our “pick your own” garden
Supervise maintenance of infrastructure, equipment, and supplies: operate and maintain farm machinery including tractor, four wheeler, zero turn mower, commercial grade weed whacker
Develop work schedules and establish procedures for Haute Goat farm labourers
terms of employment: This is a permanent position, 30 hours of work per week

skills requirements (includes education and work experience)
Either a college certificate/ specialized training in livestock husbandry or 2 years of progressive work experience in livestock husbandry.
Specialized knowledge of the care of goats and alpacas
